My prettiest winter coat was looking a little worse for the wear due to stains! Stains I didn't see last year are all over it. I am a huge fan of my cleaning things myself and keeping them away from the dry cleaners because it is so unhealthy for us and the environment. I haven't found a Lexington based one that is green yet.
So I have to go the clean it myself route. There are tons of great natural products out there but honestly I just mix a Pre-Wash Stain Spray of
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 3 cups water
Carefully test on a hidden area. I spray it on the toughest stains. Then I reach for a natural stain bar - The Laundress makes a great one! And I turn my coat inside out - put it in a mesh washing bag on the delicate cycle. It looks great again! How many of you guys out there wash your own coats?
